Shadowrun Anniversary Edition Pictures
I don’t have a ton of time for a post here, because I’ve waffled away enough time taking pictures and flicking through the book already, so it’s really time to get back to work, and a late lunch. Here’s a couple pictures of my advance copy of Shadowrun, Fourth Edition, 20th Anniversary Edition:

Sweet! I will grab one as soon as I can for sure, thanks for showing the book! :D
June 26th, 2009 at 16:30:15
It looks amazing and I can’t wait to get one. It’s the way the core source book was meant to be.
June 26th, 2009 at 16:38:17
I had to put a sleeve over the SR4 cover so I wouldn’t have to stare at that stupid dwarf. This is truly a beautiful book, thanks guys. I hope the limited edition is even better.

Whew….close one…almost ruined my notebook with all the drool from my mouth at those pics. Can’t wait to get my copy.
To everyone at Catalyst…Thanks for all your hard work.

Looks really cool! Thanks for posting this.

Hello AdamJuri – its realy nice illustrated – but there is still one question, I asked before, but no one answered: What’s the name of that red Dragon on the cover – or is it no specific, named one?
June 27th, 2009 at 13:34:53
Kathe — you’ll have to read the fiction in the book to find that out! :-)
June 27th, 2009 at 16:22:29
Yes, I must have that.
June 27th, 2009 at 19:18:26
Aww…here I thought you would have gotten one of the Limited Edition ones so we could finally know what the cover would look like…
June 28th, 2009 at 06:39:51
ooo, pretty. Is the new fiction only available in the PDF or will it be in the hard copy too?
June 28th, 2009 at 11:53:02
It’s in the hard copy, of course — look at the third picture, that’s part of one of the pieces of fiction! :-)
June 28th, 2009 at 13:44:43
@Kathe: Or, if you’ve got a book with an abridged version of the history of the 6th world (say, one written by Cpt. Chaos :p), you could look up the first few sightings of Dragons around the world. And then look for one that appeared in Japan, over a certain train. :)

As much as I’d LOVE to pick it up, I really can’t. Both financial constraints & previous experiences (NOT against any company producing SR!) are keeping a lock on future perchases of ‘new’ editions.
I’m just going to have to wait until we get a separately produced “upgrade” fro those of us who still have the SR4 main book.
June 28th, 2009 at 14:56:05
I don’t understand the logic, there, BookWyrm. We can’t “upgrade” your 2-color book to full-color without producing a new book. The rules-change PDF has been posted. Your old book is as upgraded as we can make it — better break out the crayons if you want it in full-color.
June 28th, 2009 at 18:19:02
Can we get crayons along with the special edition so we can upgrade our old rulebook also?
By the way I did order the limited edition so how does this differ from the regular anniversary edition?
June 28th, 2009 at 20:49:11
The limited edition will have extra goodness — we’re still not quite ready to announce the specifics.
June 28th, 2009 at 22:50:11
Is it at all likely that the Limited Edition will be sent to pre-Orders before GenCon? I really want to be able to get mine signed along with my BC Limited Edition Total Warfare.
June 29th, 2009 at 00:22:14
Was just wondering when the average, non-con going gamer will be able to get their hands on this. Seen the pre-order being offered for what seems a long time now. I know it can be pre-ordered, but I’m not interested in doing that.
June 29th, 2009 at 09:45:20
I’m not saying that, Adam. It’s just right now, I can’t afford to spend the $44.95 to buy the SR4A main rules. All I would require is the fiction, the errata (which I’ll check on later), and the index. If that means wating a wile, maybe until this year’s holiday season, I’ll wait.
June 29th, 2009 at 10:04:14
As I’ve said before — when we have street dates, we’ll post them, but we don’t play the guesstimate-the-release-date game.
June 29th, 2009 at 10:05:09
BookWyrm — you said “I’m just going to have to wait until we get a separately produced “upgrade” fro those of us who still have the SR4 main book.” — that sure sounds like you want some alternative to waiting until you can afford it. :-)
June 29th, 2009 at 11:20:41
Ahh, well, I apologize then for asking the question. I don’t frequent this site and didn’t see your “said before” answer listed anywhere on this site or on Battleshop. If you’re open to suggestions you may want to post that you don’t have a street date on the home page. It might cut down on having to answer that seemingly irritating question so often. ;)
June 29th, 2009 at 12:25:24
No need to apologize, Dallasrunner. That’s our policy, though, for everything: until we have a street date, we don’t announce tentative dates. We’ve broken that policy a few times and announced tentative dates, and it has always bitten us in the rear. Would it help to have “a street date is not yet known for this book” on all pages that refer to upcoming products? It might; I’ll talk to our operations manager about that.
In turn, apologies for being brusque with you earlier. I gotta remember to have morning coffee, then reply to blog comments.
June 29th, 2009 at 16:18:29
Yes, Adam, that’s what I said. I was thinking aloud when I posted “I’m just going to have to wait until we get a separately produced ‘upgrade’ for those of us who still have the SR4 main book.”
I’ve had the unfortunate experience of purchasing a RPG book, then there’s an ‘reissue’ promising better/streamlined/quicker rules, then shelling out almost double for said book and discovering little or nothing has changed.
I’m NOT accusing you or anyone affiliated with SR of performing such. I was only providing my perspective.
I appologise if anything was misunderstood.

@Matt and @ Kathe – Thats not Ryumyu (first dragon to appear, seen from the bellet train near mount fuji). He’s Blue. Lung is the red Oriental Great Dragon.
June 30th, 2009 at 02:26:09
Lookin’ sweet. keep up the cool artwork for future books. It all helps.
July 4th, 2009 at 09:09:06
@Ophis – quote: “Thats not Ryumyu (first dragon to appear, seen from the bellet train near mount fuji). He’s Blue.”
Since when Ryumyu is “blue”? – I think, I’ve read, Ryumyu would be “silver” (body, tail, complete scales) with a line of red spikes/horns on his back. Is this description incorrect or non-official?

Is it still possible to put in a pre-order for the limited edition, or has that ship sailed already?
July 8th, 2009 at 09:19:56
You can still make a pre-order, Valashar: http://www.shadowrun4.com/wordpress/2009/03/catalyst-game-labs-celebrates-20-years-of-shadowrun/
July 8th, 2009 at 13:26:37
@Kathie: You’re correct, the red dragon _is_ Ryumyo. There’s even a picture of that scene with Fuji and the bullet train in the new book. (goes and checks PDF) It’s on page 25. I noticed it last night when I gave in to the urge to destroy a set of printer cartridges on (most of) the book ^_^.

Yeah great book for you in the states would be nice if it could make it accross the water so that us in merry old england can get it. I have been an avid shadowrunner for 5 years and it one book I cant get. Other than that good work catalyst everything else was excellent

Cross — we just had a handful of copies shipped over for Origins and so some of the contributors could get their hands on them. General release has not happened anywhere, yet. We aren’t snubbing the UK!
