February Fan Chat Transcript

Here’s the PDF chat transcript of the fan chat we had on the 21st.

Here’s a couple important announcements from the chat:

Open Call for Anniversary Adventures

Shadowrun has enjoyed enormous fan support over the years and many of our current freelancers have come up from the fanbase. So, we’ve decided to try something different this year and give our fans the chance of contributing a little something to the official Shadowrun universe. To celebrate 20 years of Shadowrun, Catalyst Game Labs is inviting fans to submit a proposal for a fully developed, standalone adventure which will be published as an e-book. Furthermore, we’re especifically looking for proposals that play off the stories, plots, and adventures released in Shadowrun’s early years.

The author of the selected proposal will work closely with the Shadowrun developers to write a 10,000 word stand-alone adventure, which will be published as an official Shadowrun ebook.

Each proposal must contain the following:

  • A concise outline/plot summary (200 word limit)
  • a pitch/proposal (250 word limit)
  • a full character write-up; akin to those seen in On-The-Run or Ghost Cartels (200 word limit)
  • an introductory fiction vignette (500 word limit)
  • and one sample adventure scene (1000 – 2000 word limit)

Submissions should be emailed to info@shadowrun4.com and should be clearly label in the subject line as “20th Anniversary Adventure Submissions.”

The deadline/cut-off date for proposals is 15 March 2009.

Edit: The call for playtesters is now over!

Catalyst Game Labs looking for Shadowrun Playtesters
We’re also looking for enthusiastic GMs and players to join our Playtesting pool. Playtesters must sign and abide by a Catalyst Non-Disclosure Agreement and are compensated per CGL policy. If interested, please email info@shadowrun4.com with the subject line “Playtesting” and include some information about your gaming group [number of players, how often you play, what other games you play, that sorta stuff.]

Gamemaster for Catalyst this summer!

Catalyst has submitted all of our event descriptions to GenCon and Origins for the summer conventions. As usual, we’ve submitted a few more events than we have GMs available to run them. With that in mind, we’re actively seeking more GMs. If you’re interested in attending, CGL can provide convention badges and some assistance with hotel expenses to anyone willing to run 20+ hours of RPG events for any of our games.

GMs who work these events do also tend to get an early look at the tournaments, Shadowrun Missions, and other interesting tidbits.

If that sounds interesting to you, please drop an e-mail to gmvolunteers@live.com — you’ll talk to our RPG convention coordinator, Chuck, who will be more than happy to answer any questions and get you on our schedule.

We also talked about some of the upcoming 20th Anniversary projects and other new Shadowrun stuff, so check the transcript for more!

I suppose that the scenario must be in English only.

  2. AdamJury Says:

Yup. Catalyst publishes in English only. :-)

I’m so psyched I didn’t sleep at all last night! This is more exciting than a date with Jessica Alba! Ok,maybe not more exciting, but at least equal to.:)

  4. RunnerPaul Says:

So, did no one bother to ask the Holostreets/Shadows of Latin America question this month, or has Catalyst finally grow weary of giving the same answer?

  5. PeterTaylor Says:

When we have something to announce about either project we will. As we’ve repeatedly said, we’d like no better than to launch the subscription service tomorrow but right now we’re not at a point where we can make any sort of announcement.

Meanwhile, as has been explained in previous chats, we have committed to our new ebook releases partly to test the waters and see what the market will bear in terms of the type of content we’d like to have on a subscription service. The ebooks released so far have done very well and we expect to continue with them for the forseeable future.
