Daily Blogging Experiment
I’ve built myself a little challenge: from now until November 24th, I will blog daily on Shadowrun4.com. Usually it will relate to Shadowrun, sometimes to other Catalyst projects, and occasionally it may relate to neither — I suspect my November 24th blog entry will be something like “Oh heck, what have I forgotten to pack for my trip to DC?!”
In preparation for this, I upgraded the site’s backend to the latest version of WordPress over the weekend, after doing some local tests to make sure the theme wouldn’t totally break. This also gave me the chance to install some new plugins, and of course, get up-to-date on security patches. I also — nerd alert — converted the install over to a Subversion install instead of a standard install. This means that it’s much easier for me to keep things upgraded in the future.
Even though Shadowrun4.com has been powered by a blog engine for years now, we have for the most part kept it “announcement-style”, and we haven’t allowed user comments. This is also going to change … I still need to work on the theme, but over the next week I intend to enable user comments. They’ll be moderated to start, and we’ll be asking for nice behavior: no foul language, no personal attacks, keep things focused on productive discussions. Peter and I are going to try to address the blog comments on a regular basis, of course.
That’s all for today — I’m mostly working on Eclipse Phase today [tonight...], but I’ll be back tomorrow with something Shadowrun!
